And it's my perogative...or so Bobby Brown says. Okay this is what happened...see I was working on the jacket and as I was putting it together, the ribbon started to look less and less like it would work! Dont'cha just hate that! Since I have an embellishment problem I have plenty of braids, trims and pipings to choose from. So I rooted around in my trimmings drawer and found this awesome piping that I had purchased from Daytona Trimmings years ago. Purchased with just this kind of jacket in mind, actually.
Being a little weary, I constructed the jacket and then basted the trim down and taped the buttons on...
BTW, I have enough fabric that I am going to make a four gore lined skirt from the tan fabric to match the jacket as well as a top and straight skirt from a chocolate brown sueded silk. Today this dress and jacket outfit has morphed into a wardrobe!
So what do you think? Should I continue or should I go back to the original?

No, no....keep going, this is fantastic. A quick(ish) wardrobe. Once the jacket is done you are almost there ;)
I also think this trim will be more timeless.
This embellishment gives the jacket a more sophisticated, professional look; it is a perfect compliment to both the jacket and the dress colors!

When something isn't working, it *isn't working*! If you're happy with it, why go back? Obviously you weren't happy with the first version - you spent time finding the right trim and basting it in place!
I'd say keep going. The jacket with the trim and buttons looks elegant, and so will you when you're wearing it and your other new pieces. Just think of wearing with the right pearls!

Should the jacket fronts be behaving that way? I think the braid might be either too heavy or stiff thus causing the waves. I am wondering if interfacing, even just a 2-3" wide strip (around the entire neck and front) on the ws (inside) the jacket would add better support.

I love it and I love how a whole new capsule develops around it (the same thing happens to me oh so often)! I would go along with the jacket this way. You can always make the other one in some other fabric. And maybe build another capsule around that :))

Yet another vote for "keep going"! That trim takes the jacket into the realm of the elegant - the things Madeline Albright had done with her custom clothing to become chic but business-like. But it is your keen eye that found the perfect embellishment to take this capsule wardrobe out of the ordinary! It is also inspiring to hear your "thinking out loud" musings.
I agree with everyone else. The piping looks as if it were made to go with that fabric. It gives it such elegance!
